About the Opportunity

Tŝideldel First Nation is looking for a full-time Health Manager based in Chilanko Forks, BC.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the effective operations of the Tŝideldel Health Center and its Healthcare Personnel, ensuring the delivery of culturally relevant healthcare services to the community.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for leading and managing health and wellness programs that honor Tŝilhqot’in values, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for staff and community members alike.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the planning, implementation, and evaluation of culturally relevant health and wellness programs and services
  • Ensuring financial compliance and efficient management of health program funding
  • Providing day-to-day supervision of health staff and contractors, fostering a cohesive and collaborative team environment
  • Developing policies and procedures to support culturally safe practices and improve service delivery
  • Building respectful relationships with First Nations partners, health agencies, and government bodies to advance health goals
  • Acting as a liaison between the community and health system partners, advocating for community health needs
  • Coordinating emergency response and crisis intervention planning
  • Communicating effectively with community members, health staff, and leadership to address health challenges and opportunities

About You

To qualify, you will need an accredited degree or diploma in human services management or a related field, ideally with 3+ years of management experience in a health setting working with First Nations communities/organizations, encompassing the development, implementation, and evaluation of health programs. A BC Class 5 Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation are required.

The following skills and background will be highly valued

  • Knowledge of the health and wellness challenges and opportunities specific to First Nations
  • Proficiency in human resource and financial management competencies
  • Ability to promote public health, First Nations concepts of health and wellness, and healthy ways of being
  • Competence in coordinating interventions in trauma and crisis situations
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and points of view
  • Strong negotiation skills for advocacy with health system partners
  • Ability to utilize current and relevant technology skills, such as word processing, spreadsheets, basic accounting software, and social media
  • Fluency in the Tŝilhqot’in language (asset)
